Because Every Educator Needs A Helper

Although there are tons of resources available for free on-line, locating content specific materials takes entirely too much time. An annual subscription service, edHelper.com, is worth every proverbial cent. You can churn out mini lessons complete with vocabulary and customized writing prompts as fast as your printer can spit out paper. Something I’ve found personally helpful keeping students occupied during that dreaded down time is the make your own word search feature. The ability to customize words, like student’s names for instance, and select the difficulty level enables you to occupy every student. I have a technique with these customized word searches that is nearly no fail. When entering your words, make a hidden message. Kids love secrets. If they can unscramble the words into a secret message, they get a reward. Teachers rethink rewards; I’ve found 5 minutes of “me” time to journal or draw successful. Kids are as busy as we are. Even the pesky ones need a break every now and then.
